A training tool that will enhance the players ability to learn the proper technique in dribbling, shooting and rebounding a basketball.
TRS –Dribblepro
Technical Requirement Specifications
• Training basketball to have the look and feel of a real basketball
• Initial target market for this training tool are for players of all ages, genders, and levels.
• Training basketball should have some feature that will cause the bouncing of the
ball to have an intermittent anomaly resulting in slight change in the direction of the bounce.
• The key factor is the user will have to maintain more concentration on where the
ball is going in order to maintain control.
• The preferable frequency of these anomalies is every 5th to 7th bounce.
• The desired amount of anomaly created was to cause the ball to bounce a total amount of 12” to 16” or 6” to 8” in one direction.

Calculated range of anomaly was between 6.5” to 8.5” and the top
• The desired amount of anomaly created was to cause the ball to bounce a total
amount of 12” to 16” or 6” to 8” in one direction.

The calculated angle of deflection was set between 15 to 20 degrees
Research and Development
• Molded rubber protrusions of various sizes were adhesively mounted on basketballs and measurements taken to develop the size requirement for the angle vector anomalies
• Investigation into the manufacturing process of basketballs
• One piece basketball determined to not be suitable for requirements
• Basketballs manufactured with inner bladder has manufacturing advantages
• Search for a US based company to provide prototype samples due to IP concerns
• Research discovery of US based company that has company owned China manufacturing –IP control can be maintained
One piece basketball would have the same wall thickness in the protrusions as the basketball wall. They would share the same air pressure and the anomaly result would be greatly affected.
Basketball made with an inner bladder offer advantages that allow the protrusions to be solid. This creates a protrusion that has the structure to offer the resistance needed for the anomaly effect.
Inner bladder is pressurized and skins are adhesively placed around.
